A reactive subculuture is a culture within a culture created in response to the prevailing norms and values of the main or wider culture and also opposing it. Independent subculture on the other hand is also a culture within a culture but isn't created in response to anything but the group is formed around a particular set of shared interests; their norms and values reflect the focus of the group's interests.
