It is difficult to know what is required - one could say condensation as the gas changes to a liquid - losing its energy becoming less-able to roam in a random manner, the gas changes to liquid and less-able to move around and is bound by the attraction of each other.

Note: if further energy is lossed then the substance turns solid and very little movement takes place by the substance.
