Compounds are formed by chemical changes using 2 or more elements.

There are 2 kinds of elements. Molecular compounds are made up of molecules. One molecule is the smallest particle of these compounds. Water is one of these type compounds and the smallest particle is a water molecule which has exactly 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom.

There is another kind of compound called an ionic compound. These do not contain individual molecules, but the oppositely charged ions attract each other in large numbers and form ionic crystals. Table salt, NaCl, is one of these ionic compounds and exists as a large number of positive sodium ions attracted to a large number of negative chloride ions.

Not all molecule are compound molecule has more than two different atoms that are together chemically. A compound is a molecule that has at least two different elements.

What is compound and molecule?

A compound is a molecule that contains at lest two different elements. A compound is a molecule because it also contains two or more different atoms.

What is a scientific compound?

A compound consists of more than one element INTRAMOLECULARLY bonded. Intramolecular - within the molecule; occurring by a reaction between different parts of the same molecule.

Is a molecule a compound or a mixture?

A molecule is not a mixture. It may or may not be a compound. If it is made up of different types of atoms it is a compound, if it is all one type then it is a molecule.

What is the main difference between a molecule and compound?

A molecule is formed when two or more atoms join together chemically. A compound is a molecule that contains at least two different elements. All compounds are molecules but not all molecules are compounds.

Can a formula be a molecule and a compound?

No, a formula cannot be a molecule or a compound. A formula represents the composition of a molecule or a compound in terms of the types and numbers of atoms present. Molecules and compounds are different entities with distinct properties and characteristics.

How is a compound different from a molecules?

A compound is a molecule that contains at least 2 different elements. A molecule is formed when 2 atoms chemically form.

What molecule is a compound?

I don't think there is a such thing, sorry. a molecule isn't the same as a compound. They are 2 different things a molecule is the smallest physical unit of an element or compound, consisting of one or more like atoms in an element and two or more different atoms in a compound. A compound is not. Hope this helps. =)

What is the relationship between an atom, a molecule, and a compound in chemistry?

In chemistry, an atom is the basic building block of matter. When two or more atoms bond together, they form a molecule. A compound is a substance made up of two or more different types of atoms bonded together. So, a molecule is a group of atoms bonded together, and a compound is a specific type of molecule with different types of atoms.

How is a compound different from other molecules?

A compound is a molecule that contains at least 2 different elements. A molecule is formed when 2 atoms chemically form.

Is H2O a compound or molecule?

H2O is a compound because it is made up of two different elements, hydrogen and oxygen, chemically bonded together. A molecule refers to the smallest unit of a compound that retains the chemical properties of that compound.

What is it called when two different atoms combine?

When two different atoms combine, it is called a chemical bond. This can occur through different types of interactions such as covalent bonds, ionic bonds, or metallic bonds. The resulting molecule or compound formed can have different properties than the individual atoms.
