Anhydrous cobalt chloride paper is blue, as it is in the presence of water or any sort of moisture it starts to turn pink.so if you are using it keep out of air until your ready to use it and dont touch it with ypur hands because the moisture on your fingers woulde change the outcome of your lab. :) ....so in other words its used to test moisture :P

Hope i helped !

Why does the cobalt chloride test paper turn pink when wet?

Cobalt chloride test paper is blue when dry because of the presence of hydrated cobalt chloride. When it comes into contact with water, the chloride ions displace the water molecules from the cobalt chloride structure, resulting in the formation of a pink-colored hexa-aqua complex of cobalt chloride.

What would you see on Cobalt Chloride paper if water vapour was present?

If water vapor is present, cobalt chloride paper would change color from blue to pink. Cobalt chloride is a chemical indicator that is blue when dry and turns pink when exposed to moisture.

What happened when you put blue cobalt chloride paper on to a mirror?

When blue cobalt chloride paper comes into contact with a mirror, it may change color due to moisture. Cobalt chloride is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water vapor from the air. If the mirror is cool enough, condensation can form on its surface, causing the blue paper to turn pink as it absorbs the moisture. This reaction demonstrates the paper's ability to indicate humidity levels.

Where can you purchase Cobalt Chloride paper in Australia?

Cobalt chloride paper is commonly available at chemical supply companies, laboratory supply stores, or online from websites that specialize in selling scientific equipment and chemicals. It is important to note that cobalt chloride is a regulated substance and may require special handling and storage considerations.

What two substances are indicated by the cobalt chloride and limewater test?

Cobalt chloride paper turns from blue to pink in the presence of water. Limewater turns cloudy in the presence of carbon dioxide.

What color will a cobalt chloride paper turn into when there is water vapor?

A cobalt chloride paper will turn pink when exposed to water vapor. This color change is due to the cobalt chloride reacting with the water vapor to form pink cobalt chloride hexahydrate.

What is the color of dry cobalt chloride paper?

mostly blue.

What will be the colour change of cobalt chloride paper if water present?

Cobalt chloride paper changes color from blue to pink when exposed to water due to the absorption of water molecules into the paper, which alters the chemical structure of the cobalt chloride.

Why does the cobalt chloride test paper turn pink when wet?

What is detected when cobalt chloride paper turns pink?

When cobalt II chloride paper turns pink, this means that it has detected water. :-)

What would happen if you breathe out on cobalt chloride paper?

If you breathe out on cobalt chloride paper, the paper will turn pink due to the presence of moisture (water vapor) in your breath. Cobalt chloride paper is used as a moisture indicator and changes color in the presence of water.

Is cobalt chloride paper the same thing as pH paper?

No, cobalt chloride paper and pH paper are not the same. Cobalt chloride paper is used to test for the presence of water, while pH paper is used to test the acidity or alkalinity of a solution by measuring its pH level.

What would be the color of cobalt chloride test paper be with a drop of ethanol?

The cobalt chloride test paper would turn from blue to pink when exposed to ethanol. This is because ethanol dehydrates the cobalt chloride, causing a change in color.

What would you see on Cobalt Chloride paper if water vapour was present?

If water vapor is present, cobalt chloride paper would change color from blue to pink. Cobalt chloride is a chemical indicator that is blue when dry and turns pink when exposed to moisture.

What would turn cobalt chloride paper yellow?

Cobalt chloride paper turns yellow when exposed to moisture or high humidity levels. This change in color indicates that the paper has absorbed water and undergone hydration, resulting in the yellow color.

What is cobalt chloride paper in simple terms?

Cobalt chloride paper is absorbent paper which has been soaked in cobalt chloride solution and allowed to dry. It is a convenient way to use cobalt chloride as a test for the presence of water. When cobalt chloride is anhydrous, that is completely without water, it is blue, but when there is water present, either in solution or in the solid, it is pink. To use cobalt chloride paper it is heated to drive off the water present, until it turns blue. You then dip it into the liquid you want to test. Water,or any liquid such as milk which contains water, will turn the paper pink (it may look white if there's not much cobalt chloride on it). Other liquids, e.g. gasoline, will have no effect.

Why gas turns cobalt chloride paper from blue to pink?

Gas molecules interact with the cobalt chloride paper, causing a chemical reaction that results in a change in the structure of the cobalt chloride molecule. This change in structure alters the way the molecule absorbs and reflects light, leading to the paper appearing pink instead of blue.
