the great bombardment was an galtic event that rained down meteors on the planets of this solar system in vast numbers. some have speculated that this was a time our solar system moved through a dense particle mass of asteroids. as our solar system revolves around the galtic core and that core revolves around the universal core. when this happenened is difficult to ratify a time line for it only happened once. where later as a common event our solar system picks up the occasional asteroid or 2 now that have become trapped in gravitational forces and become an elliptical orbit of our sun. this also would explain the more then 200 other planetoid bodies we have out past Pluto. some believe that this is where we picked up our satellite moon around terra firma.
still others say the great bombardment is an event when we pass through our own solar systems asteroid mass located in-between planetary bodies. it is speculated that a comet of great size took out one of the solar systems planetary bodies where when it broke up, planets pass through the mass every so often until such time the asteroid mass has reached orbital unity. and we call that one the asteroid belt. much like the asteroid belt that orbits Saturn. our solar systems main massive asteroid belt is located between mars and Saturn.
and even yet others have speculated an ancient galtic war once occurred. the use of asteroid masses for bombardment is in relation to the time line of the number of impacts we have counted over our sister planets and moons.
and still further some belive the impacts of the great bombardment were a result during the creation of this solar system.
Meteorite bombardment refers to the intense period in the early history of the solar system when a large number of meteorites and other space debris collided with planets and moons. This bombardment played a crucial role in shaping the surfaces of celestial bodies, including the Earth, and influenced the evolution of their atmospheres.
Early in its history, the Moon was under constant bombardment by space debris. The intense heat generated by these numerous impacts melted the Moon to great depths.
Continuous bombardment by meteorites and asteroids during the early formation of Earth contributed to its heating through the release of kinetic energy upon impact, which led to increased surface temperatures. This intense accretion process also played a crucial role in the planet's growth, as the accumulation of these celestial bodies added mass and volume to Earth. Over time, the bombardment decreased, allowing for the stabilization of temperatures and the development of a more hospitable environment for life.
Early Earth was heated through gravitational contraction as the planet formed, where the immense gravitational forces caused materials to compress, generating heat. Additionally, radioactive decay of isotopes such as uranium and thorium released energy, contributing to the planet's thermal state. Furthermore, the bombardment of asteroids and meteorites during the Late Heavy Bombardment delivered kinetic energy, further raising temperatures and causing melting of the surface. These processes collectively contributed to the intense heat that characterized the primordial Earth.
The Heavy Bombardment, also known as the Late Heavy Bombardment (LHB), refers to a period around 4.1 to 3.8 billion years ago when the inner solar system experienced a high frequency of asteroid and comet impacts. This event is critical for Earth as it influenced the planet's geological development and may have had significant implications for the emergence of life. The impacts likely shaped the early atmosphere and oceans, and the consequences of this bombardment can still be observed in the craters on the Moon and other celestial bodies, providing insights into planetary formation and evolution.
