Minerals are important to living things because they use them to form complex enzymes and proteins.

Minerals (ores) can be economically important:

1. The country can earn foreign currency by selling the minerals to other countries.

2. Jewellery can be made from gold and diamond, and even ruby, emerald, etc.

3. Household needs can be met e.g. bauxite, when processed, is turned into aluminum and so we get foil.
