Statement of the Principle of Priority. The valid name of a taxon is the oldest available name applied to it, unless that name has been invalidated or another name is given precedence by any provision of the Code or by any ruling of the Commission.

Purpose. In accordance with the objects of the Code , the Principle of Priority is to be used to promote stability and it is not intended to be used to upset a long-accepted name in its accustomed meaning by the introduction of a name that is its senior synonym or homonym.

The Principle of Priority requires that a taxon formed by bringing together into a single taxon at one rank two or more previously established nominal taxa within the family group, genus group or species group takes as its valid name the name determined in accordance with the Principle of Priority and its Purpose, with change of suffix if required in the case of a family-group name.

Why is the first law called law of inertia?

the first law of motion deals with inertia. it describes about the inertia or the tendency of a body to remain in rest or uniform motion.more over, implicit in the discussion of Newton's first law is the concept of an inertial reference frame, which for the purposes of Newtonian mechanics is defined to be a reference frame in which Newton's first law holds true. There is a class of frames of reference (called inertial frames) relative to which the motion of a particle not subject to forces is a straight line.hence newtons first law is also called law of inertia.

What does newtons law of inertia apply to?

Newton's First Law of Inertia applies to objects at rest staying at rest and objects in motion staying in motion unless acted upon by an external force. It describes the concept of inertia, which is the tendency of an object to resist changes in its motion.

Constitutional law is the supreme law of the land, setting the framework for all other laws to follow.
