The large stripe you may see on some photos of Mercury may be from missing data. As of now, they still didn't photograph the planet completely, close up. Though, NASA's Messenger Spacecraft is there now and it is sending back new photos.

The smaller stripes you might see may be caused from a number of things, such as stress fractures from quakes or impacts. Some things on Mercury they haven't been able to explain, to any satisfaction.

Hexagon shaped craters, a "Telephone" shape on one crater...

There is much to be discovered, there, as it is with all of the planets of our Solar System. Keep looking to discover new things for yourself. Sometimes, the secrets in outer space are left for you to find.
