When figuring out an answer to a question, scientists use the scientific method. the scientific method is a series of steps that start like this:

  1. Ask a question
  2. Do some background reaserch on this question
  3. Form a hypothesis, what the scientist thinks the answer might be
  4. Do some experiments to collect data on the question, it can turn out either way, in favor of the hypothesis or not in favor of it.
  5. Then they analyze what the experiments conclusion was. if it was not in favor of the hypothisis they then go back and form a nother hypothesis that conforms to the experiment. if it was correct they then do several more experiments to further prove the hypothesis.

if all of these are in favor the scientist reports their results and the question is answered!
