The tongue assumes a variety of positions & forms to enable us to make sounds (say the alphabet slowly & you'll notice the huge difference in positions etc)...

It also works like a rolling pin for eating, (if that makes sense,lol) the taste buds move the food in to the right direction...

Sends messages to the brain, it's a is a sensory perception organ....

& the last function is taste buds...
