The largest land carnivore is the Siberian Tiger (now critically endangered in the wild). Some say the polar bear is bigger, but this is now doubted. While the biggest polar bear may well be bigger than the biggest Siberian Tiger, the average sizes give you a better guide - and the tiger is bigger.

However the biggest living carnivore of all is the Great White Shark, alive and well and pretty numerous in oceanic environments all over the world (although generally only in tropical climes).
