i personally think that when the continents were connected, the ocean flooded over them and took them apart. kinda like weathering . the water moved to them to where they are now. im not sure if thats the correct answer but thats what i believe.

What makes the continent and the ocean floor unstable?

The continents and ocean floor are unstable because the plates of the lithosphere move. When the plate move, they cause the continents and ocean floor to move.

How do the tectonic plates moved the continents?

The continents are part of Earth's tectonic plate system, when the plates move the continents move with them. The plate movement is driven by slow mantle convection driven by the heat in Earth's core.

Can a pole shift cause the continents to move?

A pole shift refers to a change in the Earth's rotational axis, which can affect the distribution of land and sea but does not cause the continents to physically move. Plate tectonics are responsible for the movement of continents over long geological timescales.

How were the fossil symbols helpful in deciding where to move the continents?

Fossil symbols were helpful in deciding where to move the continents because they provided evidence of past connections between landmasses. Similar fossils found on continents that are now far apart suggest that they were once joined together. By using fossil evidence, scientists could determine the past positions of continents and reconstruct ancient supercontinents like Pangaea.

How did the continents move during each of the eras?

During the Paleozoic Era, the continents were mostly joined together as a supercontinent called Pangaea. In the Mesozoic Era, Pangaea began to break apart, leading to the formation of the modern continents. Throughout the Cenozoic Era, the continents continued to move to their current positions due to the process of plate tectonics.

What theory makes the occurrence of Pangaea possible?

The theory of plate tectonics makes the occurrence of Pangaea possible. According to this theory, Earth's outer layer is divided into several plates that move and interact with each other. Pangaea formed when these plates came together to create a supercontinent before eventually breaking apart into the continents we see today.

What are the parts of the plate that move when plates move?

continents

What layer of the earth makes up these plates and what layer are these continents sliding on?

The plates on the top of the upper mantle are referred to as the lithosphere, which slides on the asthenosphere.well the mantle causes the continents to move on the ocean floor and sand it makes it slideyea know the crustti is i dont ge ehttt

What cause the continents to move?

Plate Activity causes it to move.

How rifting and accretion change the shapes of continents?

they can increase or move the size of the continents

From where to where did the continents move?

from north to south

What made continents move?

The continents moved because of the tectonic plates of earth that they rest on.

Why did the continents move?

The continents move due to plate tectonics, which is the movement of the Earth's lithosphere plates on the asthenosphere beneath them. This movement is caused by convection currents in the mantle, leading to the drifting of continents over millions of years.

Why did our ancestors move to other continents?

to work

What is called when continents move?

Continental drift.
