Mountains are formed by slow gigantic movements of the earth's crust.

The earth is made up of six huge plates (a big piece of land). When one plate dashes against another with great force, the land in between the plates gets lifted up to form mountains.

Many of the mountain ranges around the world has been formed due to the collision of two plates against one another.
