In short, this is what makes something Alive,
(and this is straight off of Sesame Street)
That's it, if you are in doubt go through the checklist, plants, bacteria, animals, weeds, ameobas...ALL eat, breathe and grow!
A nonliving thing can either be something that WAS once living or can just be an inanimate object. (ie: a pillow or a calculator.) Therefore, a nonliving thing is simply something that does not have animal or plant cells in it. It can also be a person, animal, or plant that has died after maybe living a full life or an uneventful one, that is extremely unimportant. Living things breathe, need food/water, and shelter. They also have animal (if they are an animal), human (if they are human), or plant (if they are plant) cells. It is as simple as that.
The cell.
Biology is the study of living things only.
Living things are made up of cells, which are the basic structural and functional units of life. Nonliving things are made up of atoms and molecules. Both living and nonliving things are composed of elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen, which combine to form the basic building blocks of matter.
Food makes the body active
Living things exist across a wide range of habitats and environments on Earth, from deep ocean trenches to high mountaintops. They vary in size from microscopic bacteria to giant sequoia trees. The diversity of living things is vast, encompassing organisms with different structures, functions, and behaviors.
When trying to come up with characteristics of nonliving things, it helps to think about what makes them different from living things. Unlike living organisms, nonliving things do not need water to survive, nor do they have reproductive or respiratory systems. In addition, nonliving things do not need nutrition in order to exist.
living things which take the nonliving matter from the environment
Living things are alive.
living things have different physical features and different needs to survive.
The product itself is non-living. It is like mucous that your nose makes. There maybe living things in it but it is not alive.
Living things are alive.
Living things are alive.
An Ecosystem is made of two very important things that are a habitat and a community. Ecosystems are one of the four important group populations for animals!
All living and nonliving things are made up of atoms, which are the basic building blocks of matter. Living things are made up of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems that work together to carry out essential functions for survival. Nonliving things include elements, compounds, minerals, and other substances that provide structure and support to the environment.
a community
non-living things also have kinetic energy if you are seeing it from the side when it is moving. As, the internal parts of the car work together which is nothing but kinetic energy which makes the car move. But it does not make any difference even if you sit inside the car
