distance scale measure
Longitude and latitude are components of a system designed to describe thelocation of points on the Earth. They have no roler whatsoever in determiningthe location of the Earth itself.
The location of a star is typically measured using celestial coordinates such as right ascension and declination, which are similar to longitude and latitude on Earth. This allows astronomers to pinpoint a star's position in the sky relative to other celestial objects. Astronomers use telescopes and specialized equipment to accurately determine these coordinates.
The system of latitudes and longitudes is a method used to locate points on the Earth's surface. There is a similar coordinate system used to locate objects in the sky, but it's not latitude/longitude.
I believe they have to give you their coordinates which are degrees east or west latitude and degrees north or south longitude. For example They'd say I'm at 30 degrees east latitude and 60 degrees north longitude and then you just find the point where those coordinates meet.
Geographers describe a feature's place on Earth by using coordinates such as latitude and longitude, as well as by referencing its location in relation to other landmarks or geographical features. They may also use geographic information systems (GIS) to map and analyze the location of features in detail.

The oldest systematic method of location is based upon the geographic coordinate system, which uses latitude and longitude to pinpoint a specific location on Earth's surface.
The method of recording the location of stars involves using coordinates such as right ascension and declination, which are analogous to longitude and latitude on Earth. Astronomers often use specialized telescopes and equipment to accurately measure the position of stars in the sky and record their precise coordinates for cataloging and further study. Additionally, software programs and databases are commonly used to store and access this information.

The geographic coordinate system
i belive the equater........It is a point in the Atlantic Ocean where the equator and the prime meridian meet. All locations pinpointed by the latitude longitude method use this point as the base reference point.
Global Positioning System
The method is too complex to describe here in detail, but the system of hardware and software that implements the method is the Global Positioning System (GPS).
