Generally, mass is expressed in kilograms (kg), but it may vary depending on what it is that you are measuring. Small masses may be expressed in grams or even MeV/c2 for subatomic particles. Very massive objects may best be measures in "solar mass". The mass of our sun is one solar mass. Note that mass and weight are not the same thing, although there is a connection between the two. Something with a mass of 1kg will generally also have a weight of 1kg if weighed on Earth under fixed conditions.
