Two things: first, that the Earth orbits the Sun, and second because the Earth's axis (the "line" it spins around) is tilted so that part of the year the south is more pointed to the Sun, and the rest of the year, the north is more pointed to the Sun. Of course, the part of Earth pointed most to the Sun is having Summer.
