Depends. Melbourne is in a part of Australia that observes Daylight Saving Time {DST}; Arizona does not observe DST. During the summer months in Melbourne (Nov/Dec/Jan, for example) there is an 18 hour time difference between the two places. During the winter months in Melbourne (July/Aug, for example) there is only a 17 hour time difference. And then there is that International Date line to consider. So: 9 AM Friday in Melbourne, Australia during the Australian summer = 3 PM Thursday in Arizona. And: 9 AM Friday in Melbourne, Australia during the Australian winter = 4 PM Thursday in Arizona.

Melbourne is a beautiful place all year round with nice beaches, the Melbourne museum, the botanical gardens, the Delicious food of lygon st and the great shopping at the Bourke st mall. I live an hour away from Melbourne on the beautiful Mornington peninsula and Melbourne is always a great place to go to, especially the docklands, with ice skating, great cafes, and factory outlets like Supre' and Ice. I defiantly recommend going there, its a lovely place.
