Hurricanes typically occur in coastal regions or islands near warm ocean waters, such as the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and southeastern United States. When hurricanes make landfall, they can impact areas along the coast before weakening as they move further inland.
The wind belt responsible for pushing hurricanes back out to sea is the Westerlies. These prevailing winds, located in the mid-latitudes, typically blow from west to east and can steer hurricanes away from the coast and toward the open ocean. The interaction between the hurricane's structure and the Westerlies can significantly influence the storm's trajectory.
Hurricanes ranking a 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale could take the majority of a roof off of a house. The wind velocity of a 4 hurricane is between 130-156 miles per hour. For more information on the Saffir-Simpson scale, hurricane wind velocity, or the potential damage that can be incurred in a hurricane, please see the related links.

hurricanes can have very strong winds. it can blow a person away. it can damage a lot of things. it can cause a major amount of flooding and it can cause tsunamis. if it happens where you live, good luck knowing you.
yes hurricanes do affect sea life. why? because the winds can blow the water making it murky and unstable. the fish can get lost or the waves accidentally throw fish out of water on to rocks.
