hide under something like a table (because it is hard)
For the most part, by that point it's too late to "do" anything. There are lots of preparations you can make before an earthquake, but once it starts it doesn't usually last long enough for you to do anything. Earthquakes can be thought of as more or less the exact opposite of tornadoes: in an earthquake, you should get outside if you can or at least in a doorway, whereas in a tornado outside is pretty much the last place you should be.
Check ALL of your wall figures so they wont fall on you or anything. During the earthquake get under a table or a door-frame.
because they needed to evacte from the eathqake.

One can purchase an earthquake kit from stores like Quake Kare, American Family Safety, and Earthquake Store. Because it is uncertain where one is when an earthquake strikes, one should plan to have an earthquake kit for the home, office and vehicle. Some of these stores have pre-made kits or one have have them custom-made. Alternatively, one can build their own earthquake kits and there are sites, like 72hours, which provide advice on earthquake preparedness including contents of a kit.

If possible get out into the open where nothing can fall on you. If you are in a built up area shelter under something sturdy. The shaking of the ground is not likely to harm you it is falling objects that hurt people during an earthquake.
Should have. The confusion arises when the conjunction "Should've" is used, which sounds very much like "Should of".
You should take out a policy for earthquake insurance.
