There is a small similarity in that they both theorise the Universe will continue to expand.

The outcome, is where they differ.

In the big freeze theory, the Universe just continues to expand until all matter is used up and becomes a lifeless and very cold place.

In the Big Rip theory, the Universe itself is actually ripped apart. All bound objects are pulled apart.
