The cell wall of a bacterium is surrounded by a capsule which has the purpose of preventing the bacteria from becoming dehydrated. It is usually made up of a layer of polysaccharides and may also contain proteins. The presence of a capsule is usually associated with pathogenic (disease causing) bacteria because it acts as a barrier against white blood cells so that the white blood cells cannot engulf the bacteria and by this bacteria able to cross the defence mechanism of host and cause disease. It can also some time resist antibiotics
A cell wall surrounds and protects a plant cell.
Bacterial cells have a cell membrane, as do the members of all 6 animal kingdoms. However, they do not have a cell wall. The cell wall is used only in plants, to help the plant stand up straight.

Cell wall
The cell wall surrounds plant cells.
It is first surrounded by cell membrane. After that there is a cell wall.
Each cell of the plant has a cell wall. Cells of animals do not have a cell wall.
Plant cells have a cell wall made of cellulose, which provides structure and support, while bacteria have a cell membrane that surrounds their cytoplasm.
This structure is called as Cell Wall that gives shape to the bacteria. This wall gives protection to the bacteria and prevents it from exploding because of osmotic lysis.

Prokaryote cells do not have a membrane-bound nucleus like eukaryote cells. They do have a cell wall made of peptidoglycan which is composed of disaccharides and amino acids. This gives the cells structure and rigidity. In plants, this is made of cellulose and is rigid. Fungi have cell walls made of chitin. Animal cells do not have cell walls.
