Acids are caustic by nature. Murianic Acid, C00H, will have varying effects on the eyes depending on its concentration. 0.1M acid is about the same concentration as your stomach acid which will cause minor irritation to the eyes (redness and itching). Lab strength acid (sometimes up to 12M) can cause blindness by dissolving the lens/cornea of the eye. Using an eyewash (sink would work) the acid is diluted to the point of no longer affecting the eye. Once eyewash has been completed for at least 5 minutes, go to an emergency room to ascertain the extent of the damage to the eye.
