we only wish. mt vesuvius (aka ponpei volcano) is only famous because the events were so well documented and the ash plume preserved the town so nicely. in history many towns have been struck from earthquakes, lava and falling rocks all caused from a volcano exploding. there are honestly more examples i can include than there have been air crashes but off the top of my head i can name Hawaii and Tokyo as key examples and probally guess the super volcano in Mexico has kille da few towns in its time
