Carbon monoxide (CO), also called carbonic oxide, is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas which is lighter than air. It is highly toxic to humans and animals in higher quantities, although it is also produced in normal animal metabolism in low quantities, and is thought to have some normal biological functions.

It consists of one carbon atom and one oxygen atom, connected by a covalent double bond and a dative covalent bond. It is the simplest oxocarbon, and is an anhydride of formic acid. In coordination complexes the carbon monoxide ligand is called carbonyl.

Carbon monoxide is produced from the partial oxidation of carbon-containing compounds; it forms when there is not enough oxygen to produce carbon dioxide (CO2), such as when operating a stove or an internal combustion engine in an enclosed space. Carbon monoxide burns with a blue flame, producing carbon dioxide.[1]

What is Non combustible waste?

Non-combustible waste refers to materials that do not burn or produce significant heat when exposed to fire. This type of waste typically includes items like metals, glass, ceramics, and certain types of concrete. Because they do not combust, non-combustible materials are often disposed of in landfills or recycled, depending on local regulations and facilities. Proper management of non-combustible waste is important for environmental sustainability and resource conservation.
