Sound is a mechanical ennergy besides potential and kinetic.
Sound is the movement of a medium at frequencies we can hear. As it always involves movement of a medium, either a solid, liquid or gas to be transmitted it will involve kinetic energy at times. Note that kinetic energy is the energy stored in a moving mass. Sound waves carry energy with a combination of both kinetic and potential energy. There are two moments in every cycle where there is no movement and therefore no kinetic energy. These two points are at the upper and lower peaks of the wave.
The energy in a sound wave is both kinetic and potential. Just as in a vibrating spring, the medium has mass and moves and so moving mass is kinetic energy. Just as in the spring there is compression and rarefaction, so there is elastic potential energy. In fact, these two are equal, potential energy = kinetic energy, just like a spring. Just like in a vibrating spring, the total energy is constant and equal to the average kinetic energy plus the average potential energy.
Potential energy to kinetic energy: at the top of a hill, the coaster has high potential energy which is converted to kinetic energy as it speeds down the hill. Kinetic energy to potential energy: as the coaster climbs up a hill, its kinetic energy decreases and is converted back to potential energy. Mechanical energy to thermal energy: friction between the coaster and the track converts mechanical energy into thermal energy, causing the coaster and track to heat up. Electrical energy to kinetic energy: in a launched coaster, electrical energy is converted to kinetic energy as the coaster accelerates along the track. Potential energy to sound energy: when the coaster goes over bumps or loops, potential energy is converted to sound energy as the coaster vibrates and creates noise.
A radio is an example of electrical potential energy because it relies on stored electrical energy to function. When the radio is turned on, this potential energy is converted into kinetic energy in the form of sound waves.
When an object falls and touches the ground, its kinetic energy is converted into potential energy and other forms of energy, such as sound and heat. The potential energy is stored in the object as it is lifted back up, ready to be converted back to kinetic energy as it falls again.
Normally the heat and sound are forms of energy wasted in the conversion from potential to kinetic energy. By the conservation of energy principle the potential energy is converted to kinetic energy not withstanding energy losses.

There are two main types of energy which is kinetic and potential energy.. Kinetic energy is an energy associated with motion.. while the potential energy is an energy stored with the position of an object, or its chemical composition.

The potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy, heat and sometimes sound.

An electric guitar has potential energy stored in its strings in the form of elastic potential energy when they are stretched. When the strings are plucked, this potential energy is converted into kinetic energy as the strings vibrate to produce sound.
sound energy is mechanic energy-which is both potential and kinetic energy-which is- potential:position- kinetic:motion ;D _Beth
Yes. As the car goes down the hill, the potential energy decreases and the kinetic energy increases. However, not all of the potential energy becomes kinetic energy. Some of it is lost to heat and sound energy.
