Please don't do that. It will blow the head right off of your engine.

This is because gasoline is more explosive then diesel.

For example, if you have a gallon of gas, and you explode it, the resulting explosive gas generated would be larger than if you managed to explode a gallon of diesel.

So your diesel pump would dump so much gasoline into the cylinder, that when it burned, it would destroy your engine.

Also, you need to realize that diesel is burned every stroke since it does not need a spark. If you would crank the diesel engine with petrol being injected, it would not combust until it dumped so much gasoline into the engine that the pressure and amount of gasoline would make it light up.

With that much gasoline in a cylinder, the explosion would be epic (hence why the engine would be kind of totaled).

It happens a lot and so far no ones engine has actually exploded.

Petrol needs mixing with air in exactly the right proportions and ignited with a spark.

This does not happen in a diesel engine. Diesel ignites by compression of air causing heat, which ignites oil, when sprayed in a mist, via an injector.

Petrol will however remove all the lubrication from the injectors and pumps, causing damage. The engine will not run on petrol, but when replaced with the proper fuel, damage may have already occured, as the last useable mix of diesel and petrol go through the system.

First you have to find out how many gallons your vehicle holds. I will give you an example on my car. My 94 mirage holds 10 gallons of fuel so 1/2 is 5 gallons. When you fill up reset your odometer and do your normal driving until your half on your tank. take that number and multiply by 2 and divide what your tank capacity is. 5 gallons on my car equals 155miles times 2 = 310miles divided by 10 = 31mpg.

Not well, it's too volatile and would knock ... and the engine would need to be redesigned. No, it should not be used in diesel engine . Gasoline's flash point and other characteristics are completely different to that of diesel. gasoline requires a spark to ignite it and diesel requires compression for it to self ignite.
