The caldera that covers most of Yellowstone Park was produced by a supervolcano. A supervolcano is an explosive volcano capable of producing an eruption with an ejecta volume greater than 1,000 cubic kilometers. The Yellowstone Caldera is one of the largest and most active supervolcanoes in the world.

Mount Vesuvius covers an area of approximately 57 square kilometers, which is about 22 square miles. It is located near the Bay of Naples in Italy and is most famous for its catastrophic eruption in AD 79 that buried the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The volcano is still considered active, with its most recent eruption occurring in 1944.
The biggest volcano on Earth is Mauna Loa, located on the Big Island of Hawaii. It covers an area of about 2,035 square miles (5,271 square kilometers) and rises over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters) above sea level, although much of its mass is underwater. Mauna Loa is a shield volcano, characterized by its broad, gently sloping sides formed by the eruption of low-viscosity lava. Its most recent eruption occurred in November 2022.
The eruption of Mount Paricutin in 1943 created several landforms. The most prominent is the volcano cone itself, which reached a height of about 1,391 feet (424 meters). The lava flows from the eruption also created a lava field that covers an area of about 10 square miles (26 square kilometers). Additionally, the eruption resulted in the formation of ash deposits and cinder cones in the surrounding area.

Because it's not officially a 'dead' volcano - it's just dormant. Additionally, the caldera covers such a vast area that, in the event of a 'super eruption', the amount of material ejected would affect the Earth for centuries to come. Possibly resulting in the extinction of all life on this planet !
The Yellowstone volcano is usually called a supervolcano.

Lol, sorry, it's kind of funny when people assume the lava covers the entire island. Nobody has been killed because of the volcano under Eyjafjallajokull, but a few hundred people have died in recorded history cause of Icelandic volcanoes.
When a volcanoe erupt's lava and rocks and smoke and it could make a ash clould like its happening in iceland right know so if it ever happens remember this passage and sometime it can kill people and turn them all stiff because dust covers them and they get trapped
