Daylight Saving Time!
Daylight saving time in the United States was extended in 2007 when it was moved to start on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. This change was implemented to provide more daylight in the evening hours.

Cars enter the city center 1 hour earlier which means cooler atmosphere. The exhaust gases are trapped underneath a cool blanket. BUT if DST were reversed then the pollutants would travel farther. DST is fundamentaly wrong and should be implemented in reverse.
In January, there are typically more hours of darkness than daylight in the Northern Hemisphere due to the winter season. Conversely, in the Southern Hemisphere, there are more hours of daylight than darkness during January as it is summer in that part of the world.
The plan gives us a later sunset so the daylight lasts longer. Doing so saved daylight hours so that during World War I, when it was implemented, war time production could continue later in the day, thus saving energy. In 1966, Daylight Savings Time became more uniform. It allows us to use less energy in the early evening by taking advantage of the longer daylight hours.

That hemisphere is tilted towards the sun to its greatest amount. It is the summer solstice in that hemisphere. The sun reaches its highest point and you have the most amount of daylight hours. The further from the equator you are, the more hours of daylight there is.That hemisphere is tilted towards the sun to its greatest amount. It is the summer solstice in that hemisphere. The northern hemisphere has more daylight hours on June 21st, which is the summer solstice and the longest day of the year. December 21st is the winter solstice and has the shortest daylight hours of the year.
All locations on Earth will experience 12 hours of daylight on the equinoxes. Area where it is spring or summer will experience more than 12 hours of daylight while places where it is fall or winter will experience fewer. The Equator always experiences 12 hours of daylight.
The hours of daylight and darkness in September are nearest to the hours of daylight and darkness in March. This is because both months are transitional periods during which the Earth's axis is tilted in such a way that the lengths of day and night are more balanced.
