Boyle's Gas Law(When you hear Boyle, think "temperature") Boyle says that when temperature is constant the volume changes inversely with pressure. When you squeeze it it gets smaller.

An example would be a pneumatic shock absorber (air shocks). When you go over a bump the force of the piston compresses the gas in the shock and the volume gets smaller. The shock absorber is designed so that it is able to get rid of excess heat and 'sort of' maintain a constant temperature.

A lift bag that divers use is a dramatic example. You hook the bag onto an object deep in the water. As it starts to lift the object the pressure is reduced as the water gets shallower. This allows the air to expand and occupy more volume...lifting the object faster and faster. If you don't control the volume of air by letting some out as you go up it can hit the surface going so fast that the bag literally jumps out of the water and deflates. It is best to not be in the way when the object heads back to the bottom.

If you want another example, see the link below for the "Cartesian Diver".

yes im not sure why, but yea

What are some real life applications of Boyle's law?

When you pop a balloon by overfilling it with air, you are applying Boyles Law. When a nurse fills a syringe before she gives you a shot, she is working with Boyles Law. Sport and commercial diving. Underwater salvage operations rely on Boyles Law to calculate weights from bottom to surface. When your ears pop on a plane as it rises from takeoff, that's Boyles Law in action.

How are boyles law and Charles law similar?

They are both gas laws?

What is Boyles law well known for?

Boyle's Law is the inverse relationship between pressure and volume.

Pressure and volume change at a constant temperature who's law is this?

Boyles Law

Is boyles law a direct or indirect relationship?

Boyle's Law is an indirect relationship. (Or an inverse)

How are Boyles law and Charles law alike?

Boyles Law deals with conditions of constant temperature. Charles' Law deals with conditions of constant pressure. From the ideal gas law of PV = nRT, when temperature is constant (Boyles Law), this can be rearranged to P1V1 = P2V2 (assuming constant number of moles of gas). When pressure is constant, it can be rearranged to V1/T1 = V2/T2 (assuming constant number of moles of gas).

How does the boyles law and Charles law relat to popcorn?

The kinetic and potential energy stored in the corn.

When does Boyle's law happen?

Boyles law "happens" when the temperature is held constant and the volume and pressure change.

Hoes does Boyles law effect the body when holding your breath?

Boyle's Law explains how the water pressure increases as you hold your breath. For example, the deeper a diver goes, the higher the pressure and the harder it is to hold your breath.
