ventral root from the ventral horn of the spinal cord is motor. If ventral root is cut it will lead to to a kind of paralysis called flaccid paralysis. This is because ventral horn contains lower motor neurons. As such the skeletal muscle innervated by the root is paralysed

You do not need to put an onion root in water, also cutting its roots would not have done any favours to the onion. If you keep the onion in dry and aired environment it will start to sprout naturally and can then be planted.

The dorsal root is the part of the peripheral nervous system that picks up sensory signals and sends the signal through the nerve to the brain. If the root is cut, the brain will not receive sensory messages from that nerve, meaning the patient will have loss of sensation in that area (numbness, blindness, deafness, etc.)
You must meet Gill, Dale, Bo, and Luke. Then examine the root on a sunny day. Gill will show up and talk about how that is supposed to get cut. There is a glitch that can happen where the root never gets cut. It can happen if you examine the root before meeting the correct people.
