lava shoots out of the top
A mountain that blows its top is a volcano, which can erupt explosively, expelling lava, ash, and gases from its summit. This type of eruption can be destructive and pose risks to surrounding areas.
The canary islands are all sitting on the top of an underwater volcano that has been dormant for hundreds of years. I also know that most of the individual islands have there own volcano's and on tenerife it is due to erupt soon as it does every 100 years. So the islands are on the top of a volcano with a volcano on top of most of them.

If you look at the volcano side ways that little curve on top is called a cradle i think
lava shoots out of the top
This is because of the time of volcano it is and the type of lava it excretes. A steep volcano will erupt with basaltic lava which is runny and can clog at the top. A shield volcano, however is different as the thick lava emitted just glops onward.
I would firstly make a volcano leaving a hole at the top and center, then fill the hole with baking soda, then add vinegar to make it erupt.

To make a volcano erupt using baking soda, create a model volcano using materials like clay or paper mache. Place a container in the top of the volcano and add baking soda. Then, pour vinegar into the container to create a chemical reaction that produces carbon dioxide gas, causing the eruption.
A volcano is the visible effect of pressure building up in the semi-molten mantle below the surface. This pressure can cause lava and gases to erupt from the opening in the top or sides of the volcano. Therefore, a volcano occurs on the earth's crust (surface).

Did you know that composite volcanoes make up 60% of the Earths volcanoes. Composite volcanoes don't always have to erupt from the top. They can have many magma chambers and can erupt from the sides. They can be made of basalt, rhyolite and/or andesite. They erupt both ash and lava. The lava is very thick. When the time comes for the volcano to erupt they start to become very quiet. (Sneaky eh?)
