Water potential of the water inside the cells is higher that the water potential of the water outside the cells. (That would means the concentration of "pure" water inside the cells are higher than that outside the cells)

Water moves from an higher water potential to an lower water potential. Thus Plasmolysis of the cells will take place. Which means the Nucleus,Vacuole and all the other cellular material will move from the inside of the cell to the outside.

If the plant normally lives in or at the edge of the ocean, it might thrive - depending on how much salt was in the water you gave it. If the plant normally lives inland and uses fresh water. your salty water would probably kill it.

Will watering trees with salt water kill them?

As plants need some amount of salts to sustain life.It basically depend on the amount of saline water watered to the plant .If the concentration is high then by the principle of osmotic diffusion the plant will loss water (as the concentration is higher outside the plant) thus leading into dehydration and then death in plant.
