Otto Hahn did not "invent" nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is a natural process that has been going on for billions of years. He didn't ... exactly ... "discover" it either. What he did do was show that earlier work was incorrect, and determine that certain products of the fission of uranium were not "neighboring" elements as was generally thought at the time, but isotopes of much lighter elements.

There wasn't really a specific year he did this, the work was done throughout the late 1930s.
