As long as it is dark enough (and clear enough) any time after dusk and before dawn is suitable for taking a star sight. Since Polaris is a fairly dim star, you may have to wait a little longer to see it clearly when shooting for latitude. Even a simple protractor can get you in the ballpark as Polaris's angle above the horizon is equal to your degrees above the equator. The 57 other stars used to measure lunar distance were specifically picked for their brightness and because they appear in the celestial sphere from a declination of about 70° south to about 89° north. The nice thing about navigating by lunar distance is all you need is a sextant and a nautical almanac, no chronometer neccessary!
You can see Canis Major in the evening sky during the winter months in the northern hemisphere. It is best visible in the southern sky. Look for the bright star Sirius, also known as the "Dog Star," which is the brightest star in the Canis Major constellation.

A shooting star is not actually a star. It is a meteorite going through our atmosphere. It becomes white hot as it heats up from the friction in our atmosphere and usually burns up.

The best time to make a wish is personal and can vary for each individual. Some people believe that making a wish at 11:11 or on a shooting star is auspicious, while others may connect better with sunrise or sunset. Choose a time that feels special to you and where you can focus your intentions clearly.

The best time to shoot a wedding to capture the most beautiful moments is during the "golden hour," which is the hour before sunset or after sunrise when the lighting is soft and warm, creating a romantic and flattering atmosphere for photos.
