If THAT'S not the case, verify that the keyswitch is releasing the starter after you let go. and last, make sure there are no damaged or crossed wires between the keyswitch and the starter.

If this happened immediately after replacing the starter, I would say the wires on the solonoid are connected wrong. It could be the switch but I think it is the wiring.

I just found the relay on my 1999 sc2.I have a standard tranny and I followed the wires from the clutch safety switch. My relay was up under the dash on the drivers side taped with electrical tape to the harness. Hard to see get agood flashlight. Probably at the top of starter- follow the + battery cable should connect to starter solenoid (relay)

Check your starter wires. I crossed one of my wires on my old S-10 when I stuck a starter on it and it just kept turning over as I touched the wire to it. A wire is corroded or touching somewhere near it. At least that's what it was for me. Hope this helps and I'm not too late
