Kansas began observing daylight saving time in 1918, coinciding with the nationwide implementation during World War I. However, the state has had various periods of observing and not observing daylight saving time since then. It was officially adopted again in 1966 with the Uniform Time Act. Since then, Kansas has consistently observed daylight saving time, except for certain local jurisdictions.
