I went to a local garden center and purchased an already started patchouli plant. I have it on my front porch in a planter and water it once every other day. The lady at the garden center told me it needed full sun but I have found it does better when it is in part sun/part shade area. Hope this helps!

Use the following to answer the question yourself: The patchouli grows well in warm to tropical temperature. It thrives in hot weather but not direct sunlight. The plant recovers, so let's say you forgot to water it one time, if you just water it a little more than usual the next time then it will be fine. They bloom in late fall. The seeds are delicate and are easily crush. Don't think I know everything about patchouli, but I do know some things about it. About half of that paragraph.
