The fossils of 'Lucy' are estimated to be around 3.2 million years old, making her one of the oldest known human ancestors. Lucy belongs to the species Australopithecus afarensis and was discovered in Ethiopia in 1974.
The first human body ever found is often attributed to the discovery of "Ötzi the Iceman," a naturally mummified man from around 3300 BCE, found in the Alps between Austria and Italy in 1991. However, earlier human remains, such as those of "Kennewick Man" or various fossils like "Lucy" (Australopithecus afarensis), have also been significant discoveries in understanding human evolution. The identification of the "first" body can vary based on context—whether referring to the oldest, the first to be discovered, or the most famous.
I know for a fact that it was found on the Continent of Africa but I'm not sure which counrty in Africa. The oldest human remains were found in the Horn of Africa, Somilia.
No. There was actually one found in Ethiopia that was older.
Lucy's bones were discovered in 1974 in the Afar region of Ethiopia, near the town of Hadar. The skeletal remains, belonging to the species Australopithecus afarensis, were found by a team of paleoanthropologists led by Donald Johanson. This significant find provided crucial insights into human evolution, as Lucy is one of the oldest and most complete hominid fossils ever unearthed.
The oldest hominid bones ever found belong to the species Australopithecus afarensis, with one of the most famous specimens being "Lucy," discovered in Ethiopia. These bones date back approximately 3.2 million years. While not classified by modern racial categories, they represent early human ancestors that are pivotal in understanding human evolution.
because the team who found Lucy was having a party for their discovery and the song that they were listening to was called "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" by the Beatles

The hominid skeleton named after a Beatles' song is "Lucy," which refers to the Australopithecus afarensis species discovered in 1974. The name "Lucy" was inspired by the Beatles' song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," as the researchers were playing the song during their celebration of the discovery. Lucy is one of the oldest and most complete hominid skeletons ever found, providing significant insight into human evolution.
