South America has more mountains than North America, primarily due to the Andes Mountain Range, which is the longest continental mountain range in the world. The Andes stretch over 4,300 miles along the western edge of the continent, featuring numerous peaks and high plateaus. In contrast, while North America has notable mountain ranges like the Rockies and Appalachians, the overall mountainous terrain is less extensive than that of South America.
North America has fifty states. To be more specific, the United States of America, is the country that has fifty states. North America is the continent. (The three biggest countries in North America are Canada, U.S.A, and Mexico. There are many small islands, and other small countries when getting closer to South America.)
The weight of North America cannot be determined as it is made up of various land masses with different compositions and densities. Additionally, weight is a measure of the force of gravity acting on an object, and North America as a continent does not have a single defined weight.
The geographical region known as Central America connects the continent of North America to the continent of South America. Central America is comprised of seven countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
The west coasts of both continents are by far the more active areas, due to subduction along both continents. Which is why the Andes chain of mountains and the Sierra Nevada and the Rocky Mountains, as well as the Cascades, are so high compared to any mountains along the eastern seaboard of either continent.
"America" is typically used to refer to the entire continent comprising North and South America, while "US" and "USA" specifically refer to the United States of America, a country in North America. The terms are often used interchangeably, but technically "US" and "USA" are more precise in referring to the country.
The US is NOT a continent , but part of North America, and we have lots of mountains.
