Earth is more dense than the moon because the earth has an iron-rich core, where the moon does not. The moon was formed eons ago when Earth was struck by a planetesimal. The result was that some of the Earth's crust and mantle was sent orbiting in space, forming the moon. However, the core of the Earth, the part full of iron, did got get sent into orbit. This explains why the Earth is more dense than the moon.

Why planets and their moons are able to always stay in orbit?

Planets and their moons stay in orbit due to the balance between the gravitational pull of the planet and the moon's motion. This balance is governed by Newton's law of universal gravitation. As long as the gravitational force between the planet and its moon is strong enough to keep the moon in orbit, they will continue to move in a stable path.
