The state fossil of Georgia is the shark tooth. This fossil represents the state's rich history and connection to the ocean. Georgia designated the shark tooth as its state fossil in 1976.
Because the beds have been mulched and there is a lot of decomposing organic matter in the soil mushrooms will grow in new landscape beds. As this breaks down, it provides food for the mycelium of fungi to grow. When developed enough, the mycelium send up mushrooms to disperse their spores (seeds of fungi).It is said to be an excellent sign if mushrooms are growing, as they will not grow in areas that have been contaminated with poisons. It means the soil in those beds is healthy and rich.
The fossil that was found in Bavaria, Germany, is the Archaeopteryx.
