Democritus
Hmm, maybe Gan De (approximately 400 BC), Nicetas of Syracuse (approximately 400 BC), or Eudoxus of Cridus (approximately 400 BC)? Also, the Chinese have a history of studying astronomy since about 600 BC. Dig around a little and maybe you'll find a recorded name.
john Dalton
The idea of atoms was first introduced by the ancient Greek philosopher Democritus in the 5th century BC. Democritus proposed that all matter is made up of tiny, indivisible particles that he called "atomos," meaning "uncuttable" in Greek.
Democritus made his observations on atoms around 400 BC. He proposed that all matter is made up of indivisible particles called atoms, which he believed were constantly in motion. These ideas laid the foundation for the modern atomic theory.
The idea that matter is composed of tiny indivisible particles was first proposed by the ancient Greek philosopher Democritus around 400 BC. He called these fundamental particles "atomos," which means indivisible in Greek.
450 BC. Hope it answers your question =)
400 b.C.
Democritus lived from about 460 BC till about 370 BC. He did not make the atom, rather he came up with the idea that matter was composed of atoms.
Well, Aristotle was a big philosopher, and he basically told everyone that the idea of this atom was a big misunderstanding and couldn't possibly be true. Being as respected as he was, people listened to him and sort of blew off this whole atom idea, until the 1800's, when Dalton proposed his atomic theory.
The idea of the atom was first developed by Greek philosophers Leucippus and Democritus in 5th century BC. Their idea was overlooked until Antoine Lavoisier's experiments were done in the 18th century.
400 BC is earlier than 220 BC
no its false 400 bc comes before 500bc and 500bc comes after 400bc
welll... the atome was dicovered in 400 bc then again in 1803 then again in1905 then again in 1907 and now today yourwelcome (y)
1. Democritus was not discovered the atom; he proposed and accepted intutively the notion of atom at approx. 400 bc. 2. Now the founder of atomism is considered Leucippus, precursor and teacher of Democritus.
400 BC was 2416 years before AD 2017.

Aristotle did not discover the atom. The concept of the atom was first proposed by the ancient Greek philosopher Democritus around the 5th century BCE. Aristotle had a different view of matter, which did not involve indivisible particles like atoms.
