When something is saturated it means that it's holding as much as it can.

Generally when we use the term we're talking about solutions, and in this case the solution is saturated because there is no more space between the molecules that makes up the solute, and therefore nothing else can be dissolved in it.

If you pour salt into water and their stir it, you're making a solution with the salt distributed throughout the water. But if you keep adding salt, eventually you will get to the point where the water is saturated, and the remaining salt will fall to the bottom of the container no matter how much you stir. That point at which you can no longer dissolve any more salt is the saturation point.
