Why plants fossils found in amber are not usually found in volcanics rocks?

Plants found in amber are typically preserved in resin from trees, which is a process that occurs in forests. Volcanic rocks are formed from magma and do not provide the same type of environment conducive to preserving plant material. Additionally, the high temperatures and pressures associated with volcanic activity would likely destroy any plant material before it could be preserved.

Why do rock fossils form in sedimantry rock and not in igneous rock?

Fossils usually form when the remains of an organism are buried gently under sediments which later turn into stone. Intrusive igneous rocks form at depths within Earth where no life is found. Extrusive igneous (volcanic) rocks are so hot when they are deposited that any remains of organisms are usually incinerated. Fossils do occur in volcanic rocks, but very rarely.

How can the age of a rock be related to fossils?

If a lava flow or bed of volcanic ash was dated using isotopic dating methods and fossils were found in a sedimentary rock beneath the volcanic rock, it can be surmised that the fossils were older than the lava or ash. If the same species of fossils were found in another part of the world it would make sense that the rocks there were the same age as previous fossils. By cross checking with many other areas with other volcanic rocks, it can be found that all the rocks around the world containing those fossils were of a similar age.

Fossils are usually found in?

Sedimentary rocks, such as limestone or shale, are the most common type of rock where fossils are found. These rocks form when layers of sediment gradually build up and harden over time, preserving the remains of plants and animals. Fossils can also be found in other types of rocks, such as sandstone or volcanic ash deposits.
