In the year 2010 in the middle of June, there has been 32 miners trapped under ground in a mine. They have spent 2 and a half months there. Today, on October 13,2010, over half the miners were rescued. None of the miners have been injured, and none have died. Chile had an earthquake with a moment magnitude of 9.5 on May 22, 1960. Chile had an earthquake with a moment magnitude of 8.8 on February 27, 2010.
The Chilean miners were trapped underground in the San José Mine in Chile on August 5, 2010, due to a collapse of the main ramp that connected the surface to the lower part of the mine. This collapse blocked their only way out and left them stranded about 2,300 feet below ground.
