From my understanding in most cars it cant be burned directly. It is mixed in with air from the cold air intake and is burned with the air gas mix

i dosent have much do do with the net energy of the reaction but it does break the Co into separate less deadly oxygen and carbon. Which is better for the ozone.

If you want to know how a car recycles the exhaust carbon monoxide, look up EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)

What type of reaction is carbon monoxide formation?

Carbon monoxide formation is typically a combustion reaction, where carbon (C) reacts with oxygen (O2) to produce carbon monoxide (CO) and heat energy.

Why is carbon monoxide present in a car exhaust?

Carbon Monoxide is a by-product from burning fuel from cars. The fuel from cars is a petroleum-derived mixture gasoline, when burned, produces energy and waste products, Carbon Monoxide and other gases

What is produced when petrol is burnt?

When petrol is burned, it undergoes combustion to produce carbon dioxide, water vapor, and heat energy. Small amounts of other pollutants such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides may also be produced depending on the combustion conditions.

Does biomass produce harmful gasses?

Biomass can produce harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter when burned. Proper management and technology can minimize the release of these pollutants to make biomass a cleaner energy option.

What chemical is thermal energy produced by fire?

A fire produce water, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ash, smoke, etc.Thermal energy is not a chemical substance.

Does carbon produce energy?

Carbon itself does not produce energy. However, when carbon compounds, such as fossil fuels, are burned, they release energy in the form of heat. This is due to the chemical bonds in carbon compounds breaking and forming during combustion, releasing energy in the process.

What happens when you burn carbon monoxide?

When carbon monoxide is burned, it reacts with oxygen to form carbon dioxide. This process releases energy in the form of heat. It is important to note that burning carbon monoxide produces carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas and can contribute to climate change.

What type of energy is carbon monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is not a type of energy, it is a substance. It contains chemical energy, which is released as heat and light when it burns.

What are some energy sources that produce carbon dioxide and water when burned?

Fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil are examples of energy sources that produce carbon dioxide and water when burned. These fuels release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere during combustion, contributing to climate change.

What substance would be made when carbon is burned?

The oxidation (burning) of carbon creates carbon dioxide, with some smaller amounts of carbon monoxide. This chemical reaction also releases energy, which is why coal is popular as a fuel in electric power plants.

Do plants produce oxygen from carbon monoixde?

No, plants do not produce oxygen from carbon monoxide. Plants produce oxygen through the process of photosynthesis, which involves taking in carbon dioxide and water and converting them into glucose and oxygen. Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas that can be harmful to both plants and animals.
