I had this question set too. I wasn't sure but I think it's because it is a natural way of extracting metals because the plants naturally absorb the chemicals from the ground. Also because the technology used to create the metals are simple to use.

What metals are in phytomining?

Phytomining primarily targets metals such as nickel, copper, and zinc, which are absorbed by certain hyperaccumulator plants from the soil. These plants accumulate the metals in their tissues, allowing for subsequent harvesting and extraction. Other metals like gold and cobalt can also be recovered through phytomining, depending on the plant species used and the soil composition. This method offers an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional mining techniques.

What is expensive alloy or aluminum?

alloys because they are a combination of metals for example steel is acombination of iron and other metals

What two processes are used to extract metals?

Two processes used to extract metals are pyrometallurgy, which involves high-temperature processes such as smelting, and hydrometallurgy, which involves using aqueous solutions to extract metals from ores.

Disadvantages of metals?

Metals rust with time if they come in contact with water and air. They can also be very noisy. As metals are generally hard, use of metals requires professional tools. Recycling metals create a lot of toxic gases. For recycling, metals need to be especially separated from other recyclables. Mining also produces lots of noise and air pollution along with the emission of poisonous gases in blast furnaces.

Why is electrolysis only used to extract certain metals?

Electrolysis is mainly used for extracting metals that are highly reactive and difficult to obtain by other methods. These metals typically have a strong affinity for electrons, making them suitable candidates for the reduction process involved in electrolysis. Metals like sodium, potassium, and aluminum are commonly extracted using electrolysis because of their high reactivity.

Which common way of extracting metals is the most expensive?

Electrolysis is typically the most expensive method for extracting metals. This process involves passing an electric current through a molten or dissolved mineral to extract the metal. The high energy consumption required for electrolysis makes it a costly method compared to other extraction techniques.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of phytomining?

The advantage of phytomining is that it saves using high grade ores. However the disadvantage is that this is a long process.

How can one extract precious metals from catalytic converters?

One can extract precious metals from catalytic converters by using a process called smelting, which involves heating the converter to high temperatures to separate the metals from the other materials. The metals can then be further refined and purified for reuse.

Why is gold so easy to extract?

Gold is relatively easy to extract because it occurs in its pure form, found as nuggets or grains in rivers or underground deposits. In addition, gold does not react easily with other elements or compounds, which simplifies the extraction process and makes it less expensive compared to other metals.

What is used in phytomining to remove copper compound from the land?

Willow has been suggested; please see the first link. For other possibilities please see the second link.

What is a mineral called that contains metals or other substances in usable amounts?

An ore is a mineral that contains metals or other valuable substances in economically exploitable amounts. Ores are extracted through mining and processing to extract the desired materials.

Why do people mix pure metals such as gold with other metals?

People mix pure metals with other metals to create alloys that have improved properties, such as increased strength, durability, or resistance to corrosion. Alloys can also provide cost savings by using less of the more expensive pure metal while still achieving the desired characteristics.

How do you extract precious metals from coal?

Precious metals are not typically extracted from coal as coal is primarily composed of carbon, hydrogen, and other elements. Precious metals are usually mined from ore deposits and not found in coal formations.
