Biology is the study of biological components on many scales, how and why they interact and what the consequences are. It is the chemical properties of the components that determine the interaction. An example would be studying the effects of a virus, it would be the chemical properties (such as receptor affinity) that would determine the position and success of viral attack.
Biology can be studied on some levels without specific reference to chemical properties. But all biological mechanisms are the result of interactions at the chemical level ie you could study how fast a gazelle can run when being hunted, but this ability is due to muscle cells,energy reactions and neurological processes that are chemically driven.

Chemistry is important in biology because it helps us understand the structure, function, and interactions of biological molecules. Without an understanding of chemistry, we wouldn't be able to explain how essential processes like metabolism, DNA replication, and protein synthesis occur in living organisms. If chemistry were left out of the study of biology, we would struggle to understand the underlying mechanisms of life processes, hindering our ability to develop new treatments for diseases or improve agricultural practices.
