When Ptolemy was alive, people did not know about Uranus and Neptune, as they had not yet been discovered.
Astronomers used observational and mathematical skills to discover Neptune. They observed irregularities in the orbit of Uranus and calculated the gravitational influence needed to explain these irregularities, leading them to predict and discover the existence of Neptune.
Newton's Universal Gravitation and anomalies in Uranus' orbit. J.C. Adams and U.J.J. Le Verrier noticed anomalies in Uranus' orbit and attributed those to another unseen planet pulling on it. That hypothesis isn't possible without the acceptance of Universal Gravitation.

One way to remember the planets in order is to use the mnemonic "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Noodles." This phrase represents the order of the planets in the solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

Neptune. Because of the accidental discovery of Uranus, it was calculated that a larger body had to have been disrupting it's orbit. A comet, asteroid and star were ruled out as the cause of a disruption because they were incapable of staying in such a regular motion around the sun. Therefore the body had to be a planet. Using the obervational information from Uranus' disruptions it was calculated where Neptune should be at any one time.

Ptolemy never saw a telescope. The first telescopes were invented about 1500 years after Ptolemy died.

No, Jupiter is not the only gas planet. The other gas planets in our solar system are Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Gas planets are primarily composed of hydrogen and helium, with thick atmospheres and no solid surfaces.
The son that Cleopatra claimed was Julius Caesar's son was officially named, Ptolemy XV Caesar Theos Philopater Philometor, (Father Loving, Mother Loving God) He is known in history as Caesarion.
